At 9:30 we left dad studying for his next exam, and we aimed for adventure! First we walked to Dupont Circle and mom tried a new coffee place. Next, we spread out our blanket in the Circle and watched buses, pigeons, and squirrels, greeting every one. Snacks included cinnamon crumpet, freeze dried apple, and the every popular Baby MumMum.
Then it was time to peek into Tabletop, after which we walked south until we were at the Reflecting Pool and took a second nap. Before we knew it we were in the Sackler Gallery looking a some Chinese photography and then to the Freer for Chinamania! Then we sat in the courtyard and had a juicebox.
Soon, we were too chatty for the museums and we visited the Enid Haupt garden where we splashed in a fountain and played in some leaves. Wardrobe change followed. Then, on to the carousel (just watched this time) and to the National Gallery Sculpture Garden where there were more birds to squeal at and another fountain to admire. We also shared a hot dog with ketchup and mustard.
Then, on the Metro to 14th street, a quick stop in Target, and home to Petworth. A big day, with excellent weather and perfect company. We think dad was a little jealous, but he studied hard and will join us next holiday. Hopefully.
