We went in with some friends to buy a nice wholesome cow from Virginia, raised by a family acquaintance. Last week our share was delivered, and here we are sorting it on our dining room floor. We got 1/8 of the cow, which included almost 30 pounds of ground beef in addition to steaks and roasts.
Speaking of meaty goodness, this week our little meat bun has a new nickname. In China, there are many kinds of bao zi. Two of our favorites are the sheng jian bao from Shanghai, and the cha sui bao that we get at dim sum. Here's our little bao zi, snoring away after the evening commute.
