And the story ends in the bathtub! Stay tuned for a tale of freezing temperatures, a hand blower, and cold coffee.
And now, allow us to introduce our guest writer, Aunt Kathryn, musing in the style of this blog.
On Sunday Aunt Kathryn joined us for a trip to Ikea. Traveling there, Mom voiced her excitement about her first hot drink in recent memory. Dad didn't understand why Mom had not had a hot drink in a while, but he was soon to find out.
We arrived early and after a suspicious chicken smell in the car, determined that the family restroom would be a good first stop. Mom and Auntie headed to breakfast. Dad headed up the diaper investigation, but soon had to call in reinforcements given that the situation was severe. Dad got out his cell phone and dialed Mom. He heard her phone ring in the diaper bag - not helpful!
Meanwhile upstairs, Auntie got some coffee and a cinnamon bun and was looking for the best place to sit when her phone rang. "Heeeelp!" said the caller. Auntie put down her tray and headed down to the bathroom to assist. When she arrived at the family restroom it looked like a poo cyclone had struck. Poo-filled table liners filled the sink and Dad summarized the situation with - "The wipes are frozen." The diaper bag had spent the night in the car. Thank heavens for the hand dryer!
Carefully Dad and Auntie removed the poo filled onesie and gave Baby Man a bath with the cold wipes. Mr. Baby just sat up, grinned and squealed - not used to getting so much naked time outside of the house. Fifteen changing table liners (the only disposable paper in the room!) later we had a nominally clean baby without any underclothes sporting some baggy pants and an oversized sweater. Practically an adolescent!
Back to breakfast -- Mom had finished her Swedish pancakes and drunk her hot coffee. Dad looked at Auntie's cold coffee and knew what Mom had meant.
